Jeep Cherokee Will Dominate It’s Class

This is a short video shot by another dealer, Performance Chrysler in Niagara Ontario, Canada.  As sales consultants, we all attended a “ride and drive” session where we were able to drive the new Cherokee alongside it’s top competitors from Honda, Toyota and Ford.  While there we were told we couldn’t photograph or take video of the Cherokee’s that were present.  We were told they were pre-production models and their appearance may change.  I suspect the staff at this dealership was told the same thing and decided to setup their own ramp course. (We haven’t noticed any changes in the production vehicles at our dealership) We took the vehicles through a number of on and off road courses.  One of the courses was similar to this ramp course except the front ramps weren’t solid but had rollers on them making it “slippery”.  The instructors had us drive halfway up the ‘roller’ ramp and stop, winding up on two wheels, much like you see on this video.  Once we came to a stop, we were told to proceed, applying light gas pedal pressure.  The four wheel drive system on the Cherokee found the wheel that had traction and allowed us to continue up the ram to a higher plateau than you see in this video. During this video you will notice the driver stops twice, opening and closing the drivers door.  This is demonstrating the rigid construction of the Cherokee’s chassis which gives this vehicle outstanding on-road manners and off-road strength.  Many other vehicles wouldn’t allow you to open the door, or if you did get it open, couldn’t close it again due to body & chassis flex.
