4X4 Vehicle Choice
There are many very capable vehicles on the market today, by many manufactures.
Yes, I sell Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles, but I am also very aware of marks such as Hummer, Toyota, Chevy and Ford to name a few popular 4X4 choices. After all, as a car guy I like many makes, models and types of vehicles.
Technology in today's vehicles is very close. Sometimes it comes down to a specific purpose for the vehicle that makes the difference. This is what you need to ask yourself...honestly! What are you going to use the vehicle for? Many of today's families are driving SUV's when in fact a Mini-Van would be the much wiser choice. However, I'm only here to guide you through the buying process. The final decision is all yours.
When choosing a 4X4 vehicle, or any vehicle for that matter you must consider what its main use or purpose will be. If you are hauling cargo or towing a large trailer, then a pick-up truck would be your answer. Again, choosing the right one for the job, from a half ton to one ton, dual wheels to single axle. These are all questions that need to be addressed.
Do you know which can tow more weight, a three quarter ton single rear axle pick-up or a one ton dual rear wheel pick-up? Which one can carry more cargo weight? Can four wheel drive tow more than a two wheel drive? (email me for the answers)
Family camping trips, pulling the pop-up camper might be better served by a mini-van or sport utility vehicle. They provide comfort and the convenience of being able to access the rear of the vehicle from the inside. This can be a life saver if you are traveling with kids and the weather turns bad.
But if you are going off road or driving on logging roads and fire trails in the northwoods...Size does matter! And...bigger is not better.
As with most things in life, the original is still the best. The Jeep proved itself during world war two by moving troops quickly over any terrain. They were small and nimble, going places no other vehicle could. Today's Jeeps have changed in many ways, mostly to keep up with marketing trends and today's technology. However, the Jeep Wrangler has kept the same basic platform for well over 60 years. It has gone up and down in size, but only by inches. It remains the best all around platform for off roading or rock climbing, acclaimed by experts all over the world.
The size of any Jeep is meant to get you off road and away from it all. Even the Grand Cherokee has passed through the rocks and ledges of the Rubicon Trail, the Grand Daddy of all off road trails. Some manufactures are building SUV's the size of school buses to follow market trends, but over the years Jeep has stayed purpose driven.
